The disrespect our President receives is appalling to say the least. Many say that this disrespect has noting to do with the fact that President Obama happens to be Black. I beg to differ. Following are a couple articles that bring up similar viewpoints.
Joe Wilson: http://www.opednews.com/articles/The-Racial-Context-for-Joe-by-The-Project-on-Rac-090910-824.html
Some people felt it was inappropriate for our President to speak with a group of children. Something past presidents have ALWAYS done: http://raceproject.org/2009/09/dont-talk-to-strangers-obama-as-other.html
Of course the White House has to remain neutral on the matter: http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/09/16/white-house-deflects-charges-of-racism-leveled-at-opponents/
Some of the anti-Obama signs seen at rallies across the country: http://thinkprogress.org/2009/09/12/912-signs/
"It been a long time/ I shouldnt have left you... without a dope {blog} to step to" (c) Eric B. & Rakim
damn. havent posted in a LONG while. im just RTing though... maybe ill be inspired to post after homework...
-damn... racism is alive and kickin i tell ya!! over something like interrupting a speech for a pointless award. http://bit.ly/3jbX5U -as rude as it was, does that mean he should be hung by the KKK? some people think so... "racism still alive they just be concealin it" -its a crying shame i tell you... seems like they've been lookin for someone to hate ever since Obama got elected... -They're goin at MR. Obama pretty tough too. Ive never seen so much disrespect to the president of the United States in my LIFE... -Joe Wilson needs to be relieved of his duties... -Question: When Joe Wilson interrupted the PRESIDENT why didnt people care? But when Kanye cut in it was the worst thing on the planet? SMDH. -Why is it that in this country we place so much importance on what the fuck CELEBRITIES are doing? -And the only time we tune in to what the people who are REALLY runnin shit are doing is when they have a Spitzer/ Clinton type scandal... -lmao. in other words, we so caught up on whos runnin the town, we're not even paying attention to whos runnin the country... -yall dont hear me tho.
Or do yall? I just think its interesting to compare and contrast the two incidents. I mean, Barack Obama is the PRESIDENT of one of the richest and most powerful nations in this world. Joe Wilson interrupted a speech about the very pressing issue of a national health care. Something that millions of uninsured people (like myself) can benefit from for years to come. Kanye West interrupted an acceptance speech for an award that will not matter next year when someone else wins it.
Since when did people start watchin the VMAs ANYWAY?
And since when have we put so much weight on famous people that this Kanye/ Taylor situation could shadow something like the Obama/ Wilson dilemma?
On top of that... Kanye didnt even bomb the stage that well... ODB still holds that title for his Grammy Interruption.
At least ODB said something more than "Beyonce had the best video of all time" which is NOT true. How are you gonna go in on someone elses loss like that? I can see if YOU lost to someone, but where the hell do you get off?
That Wilson outburst got swept under the rug real quick, but white people are PISSED about this Taylor Swift thing. som much that some are tweeting the Kanye should be hung by the KKK. By the same logic, Joe Wilson should be shot by the BPP (not saying go do it, just pointing out a flawed logic!!)
The Wilson incident is alot worse to me however. I feel like no one would DARE disrespect a white President during a nationally/globally televised address of that nature. I mean, for an example go back just a year ago and take a look at dear old President Bush. Bush told SEVERAL lies over the course of his presidency. (The 9/11 conspiracy, The Katrina Conspiracy, Reasons for going into Iraq, etc. just to name a few) And I'm SURE there were a few people who felt very strongly against what the man was saying, ut they still held their composure and did not disrespect the man in front of millions.
And to get angry enough now over something that could HELP MILLIONS to yell "you lie" during a national address bewilders me. I guess some people only get seriously passionate about how the system is working when it isnt working for them. But when blood oil dollars are keeping them in office and in that upper 10th percentile, they could care less what happens to the other 90%.
Ay! ok i need to stop and do homework, otherwise i'll be stuck here all night. lol. I guess i'll wrap this up by saying that we need to take notice of the things that we as a society place Value in. I'm really beginning to weigh the importance of certain things i do in my life. Like is watching the latest happenings on Tiny & Toya all that necessary when the heathcare reform speech i missed is 2 channels up?
No.
Not really.
I gotta go with what effects me most. Toya learning to swim is not comparable to me knowing if i can go to the hospital or not after i drown. I guess its called growing up... Ugh, and I hate to say that.
Some people may disagree, but hey this is MY blog. lol.
